Welcome to a new monthly feature: my Whiskey of the Month.
For February, I have an early contender for one of my Top Ten Whiskeys of the Year: Sagamore 10 Year Rye.
Age: 10 Years
Nose: Peach Crumble, Molasses, roasted nuts
Palate: Honey, Crème Brulee, Pepper
Proof: 110.8
I’m a huge fan of Rye’s, and this one immediately won me over. This Maryland based distillate boasts aromas of peach crumble, roasted nuts, and a chewy molasses cookie. An excellent job of balancing sweet with spice. You’ll find this full of the flavors of crème brûlée, floral honey, and a lingering note of white pepper. The great thing about this bottle is that it should be widely available. You can expect to pay $70-$80.
Enjoy!
