Old Fashioned AF in PHX

Well, it’s been a while, but I’m reviving my OFAF business feature.  This week, it’s Audacy Country’s KMLE Program Director Drew Bland.  I’ve known Drew for many years, but this is the first time we’ve had the opportunity to sit one-on-one over dinner.  Oddly enough, Drew suggested Bourbon Steak in Scottsdale.  This is located at the upscale Fairmont Princess Hotel. This was the first Bourbon Steak that was established back in 2008. My wife had just taken me to the Bourbon Steak in Nashville the week prior for my 65th, but bring it on.  The restaurant offers great steaks and an extensive bourbon selection, so why not do it again!?

They did not offer the Tableside A5 Wagyu Fat Washed Smoked Old Fashioned this evening, as they do in Nashville.  That was a minor setback. But there were plenty of great whiskey options on the menu, and we persevered.  The cocktail menu was extensive.  There were many great choices. Of course, we went for the Old Fashioned. Route.  This was a 90 Proof Woodenville Rye as the base, with Angostura Bitters and Peychaud’s Demerara syrup, garnished with an orange peel.  It was delicious. One can never go wrong with a steak and bourbon. Never.

After we polished off our steaks and a bit of business conversation, we ordered another. It was a great dinner and way overdue to get to know Drew on a more personal level. Great meal.  Great place.

I found PHX to be bustling.  Spring training baseball was in full swing. I wish I were able to work that into my schedule. BTW, Phoenix is a Top 15 Radio Market.  The combined Country audience between the two Country stations, KMLE & KNIX, is just shy of 10%.
