Thanksgiving Spiced Old Fashioned

The Old Fashioned is a timeless cocktail, and my favorite drink. But for Thanksgiving, I’m giving it a festive twist and making a Spiced Old Fashioned with a touch of rye whiskey. Why rye, you ask? Rye whiskey adds a spicy, peppery note that pairs perfectly with the warm, comforting flavors of the holiday season. And there’s no better rye than Wild Turkey.

The Magic of Rye

Rye whiskey adds a unique complexity to the Old Fashioned. Its spicy notes complement the sweetness of the sugar and the bitterness of the bitters, creating a harmonious flavor profile. Wild Turkey Rye, in particular, brings a bold, robust flavor that elevates the cocktail to new heights.

Why Wild Turkey Rye?

Wild Turkey Rye is a powerhouse of flavor. It’s bold, spicy, and complex, with notes of rye spice, oak, and vanilla. This makes it the ideal choice for an Old Fashioned, especially when you’re looking to add a little extra kick.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Muddle the Sugar Cube: Place a sugar cube in an old-fashioned glass. Add a few dashes of Angostura bitters. Muddle the sugar cube and bitters together until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add Ice and Whiskey: Add a clear square ice cube and pour in the Wild Turkey Rye.
  3. Stir and Garnish: Stir the cocktail gently for about 30 seconds, or until well-chilled. Express the orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it into the glass.

Sound delicious, doesn’t it? So, this Thanksgiving, why not try a classic cocktail with a twist? A Wild Turkey Rye Old Fashioned is the perfect way to celebrate the season with friends and family.

Enjoy!
