Cool Springs Wine & Spirits Cork Club Event

For local whiskey enthusiasts and spirits collectors, certain dates on the calendar stand out. Near the top of that list was the June 14th  highly anticipated Cork Club Appreciation Day hosted by Cool Springs Wine and Spirits in Franklin, Tennessee. While the day features local vendors, and special store tastings, the true crown jewel for serious enthusiasts is the annual Cork Club raffle.

Securing highly allocated bottles has become an ultimate challenge for modern whiskey lovers. This yearly drawing changes the game for loyal shoppers by offering equal access to some of the most sought after bottles in the industry.

How the Raffle Works

The beauty of this system lies in its fairness. Instead of forcing customers to camp out in long lines overnight or navigate complicated point tracking systems, access is built directly into store loyalty.

Membership in the Cork Club gives shoppers entry into a structured drawing. Throughout the year, members receive regular updates and event invitations, all building up to the annual appreciation day when the luck of the draw determines who takes home the rarest liquid gold.

The Big Prizes

While the exact bottle manifest changes every year based on distillery allocations, the raffle consistently delivers the heavy hitters of the whiskey world. Winners regularly walk away with legendary expressions that rarely see standard retail shelves.

The Buffalo Trace Antique Collection: Pristine expressions of uncut and unfiltered whiskeys that represent the peak of Kentucky distilling.

The Van Winkle Lineup: The most famous names in bourbon, ranging from the classic ten year old bottles up to the incredibly rare family reserves.

Beyond the Bottles

What truly sets this event apart is the atmosphere. The annual drawing transforms an ordinary shopping trip into a major community gathering. Hundreds of passionate collectors congregate to share stories, talk Bourbon and celebrate the local whiskey community. Even if your ticket number is not called, the camaraderie and the chance to meet fellow enthusiasts make the day a cornerstone of the regional whiskey calendar.

I was somewhat lucky this year.  My ticket was called maybe somewhere around the 100 mark.  The huge bottles were gone by then, but some very good selections remained. There are large tables in the center of the store, roped off, with 400 quality bottles available.  You have but a couple of minutes to enter the area and choose your bottle once called.  So, quickly calculating cost, compared to what I didn’t have, I made my selection- the Old Fitzgerald 11 Year. I paid $250.  ‘IF’ you could find this, the cost would normally be $600.

This is an opportunity to build up your home bar with rare bottles without paying secondary market prices. Keeping your eye on this annual tradition is essential. Just remember to sign up for the club ahead of time so you are ready when the next big drawing rolls around every June.
