Wild Turkey Gold Foil Austin Nichols

Here is a look at the modern tribute to one of the most legendary bottles in whiskey history: the 2026 Wild Turkey Austin Nichols Archives Gold Foil Edition.

What Makes It Special

This 2026 bottle marks the inaugural launch of the Austin Nichols Archives Collection, a new series crafted by Associate Master Blender Bruce Russell. Designed to honor the famous Cheesy Gold Foil bottlings from the late eighties and early nineties, this release sits at sixteen years old and a formidable 120 proof. It is also the final major international batch distilled entirely at the former Austin Nichols facility and aged in the legendary Camp Nelson rickhouses.

How It Tastes

The glass pours a dark amber color. The nose leads with dark cherry, cola, sweet vanilla, and rich aged oak alongside subtle tobacco notes. Drinking it brings a dense texture with dark fruit flavors like plum and dark raspberry, balanced by brown sugar, cloves, and leather. The long finish brings plenty of black pepper, warming spices, dry oak, and that distinctive aged Wild Turkey character.

Is It Difficult to Obtain

It is very hard to secure a bottle. Wild Turkey produced a limited run from roughly fifty barrels, setting the retail price at 400 dollars. Given the huge collector interest surrounding vintage gold foil releases, bottle allocations disappear almost immediately from store shelves. Expect to hunt hard at select retailers, enter distributor raffles, or pay steep secondary market markups to land one. I was extremely lucky to come across a bottle, at an attractive price, at a retailer in Florence, KY.

For longtime Wild Turkey enthusiasts, bourbon collectors, and anyone interested in the history of Kentucky bourbon, the 2026 Wild Turkey Austin Nichols Archives Gold Foil Edition is far more than another limited release. It is a bottle that pays genuine respect to one of Wild Turkey’s most iconic releases while showing just how special well aged bourbon from Camp Nelson can be. If you happen to find one at retail, don’t think twice. If not, it is still a fascinating bottle to follow and one that will almost certainly remain one of the most sought after bourbon releases of 2026.
